Hi guys.

Been a long time... actually not mapping but living the sore life ;).

Well, not much talking. Here goes:

Ferrao3ctf4 - Little Wing
I'd be happy for every kind of comment and constructive criticism on pretty much everything. Gameplay, lighting, clipping, etc. Item placement is just a suggestion yet. Ideas are very welcomed. And it comes in two variants in the pk3, ferrao3ctf4b1 and ferrao3ctf4c1 for two different styles of the middle. Please tell what your favourite is.

Thanks a lot in advance and here come the screens:

And here's the pk3:
(damn, what's a good and easy filehaven? Tried Megaupload but it seems to suck. Well, for now it is on Rapidshare. Downloadable 10 times, cough. And as a .zip. Just rename to .pk3)
http://rapidshare.com/files/383075204/f ... c.zip.html

New .zip with .pk3 and .txt on Filefront:

And a third try at fileplanet:

Thank you Cityy.

So here is an actual working .zip file with .pk3 and .txt inside from Filefront:
http://www.filefront.com/16354727/ferrao3ctf4bc.zip

Hope you enjoy it a bit :) and looking forward to hear everyone's opinion.
I know r_speeds are pretty high....
I know that lowest route is way shorter...
I have no idea what the lighting is since it's kind of bogused on my 64bit machine...

but how bad is it really?
Please tell me.

Thanks, Ferrao

Hi Roughrider.
It's quake3 actually as the name may imply.

Well I had to ask because, even though it does have a "3" in front of the ctf4bc.zip, I have known people to put numbers there to show that as the number of the map that they have created.

I see your point.
In my case I go with the usual way. For Quake 3 mappers anyway :). I only released 3 maps yet. All q3a.
The first one was released on planetquake.de. The name was "q3ctfvenice", very small release and a shitty map :).
Second one was a collaboration with planetquake.de forum mappers. That name I forgot. It was a map restricted in size, like 1052*1052*1052 or something. It was a kind of a many-duell-maps-hanged-in-a-chain.
My one caught attention by the german ctf scene and so I had the opportunity to map for the Chickenteam for which I did CTCTF1 - Crosstown Traffic (can find the pack on ..:lvl). A map for which I am not too proud of. It has had some regards by Classic CTF players, but all in all it was quite a drag. Much too big/large.
Then I did another CTF map that I haven't released because the layout is really weird.
So, for simplicitiy, I decided to call this one ferrao3ctf4. And it will be released:). Any way or the other.
I hope the better :).

The latter is quite a bit easier and in my opinion better.

I really like a lot of the structural decisions you made while creating some of the details.
In the second screen shot I don't really like that slim pillar thing in the center. I think you can be a bit more creative than that. It looks really good, though. Well done.

Thank you Anthem.
That Fileplanet link should also work, just tested it. Although it's a little weird to find your way through.

your style is sharp as a knife, really good use of the base id stuff, but its just to cramped.
apart from that, great job so far!

Even as a German I will take this for a compliment ;). Thank you.
About "crampiness" (?)... well, too late. I'm not going to make a big rebuild.
I know it's narrow sometimes but with gametime you should get used to it. At least I did.

Nice map... I like it, and the bots play really good also. The center is cool, it made me think that it would be good for One Flag CTF in Team Arena.

Thank you v1l3.
Well, bots are bots. I don't much like their behaviour. But it is funny if you tell them "get the flag". Middle will become a slaughterhouse.
I thought about a TA version but there are not many people playing it, are there?

What middle version should I go with?

I think that's a really solid map you got here. Just a minor thing but that "flying" pillar you got in the mid of the map has some weird sparkles.. probably something is off-grid there? Where the hell is the LG? I couldnt find it. Also got some AAS error while playing with bots.

Thanks for looking into it, Cityy.
About the sparklies... well, I don't know. It's one piece, one corpus. Off grid, maybe, I'll investigate.
The LG is in the middle, as a func_team of four. Like in q3ctf3 the PG.
What are your exact probs with the bots? Hunk_alloc failed?
