anyone else have one of those "I" if it was their idea, and "We" if it was yours, type of people in your personal/professional lives? where in your gut does this fester, or do you not let it get to you? Just curious, since i seem to have several of these in different positions of trust and authority on the ladder of life right now.

haha you're fucked

I did at my old job. Spread blame like an Amish manure spreader, too.

edit: Maybe I should make that more clear. I'm not that guy. There was one at my last job.

the glory was something i never cared to recieve as its never been important to me.

yes i am quite successful in most ways as i know you are .

but even tho glory is not important to me, it is important to retain your earned glory because it effects the way the average and the not so successful view you and that under mines the fundamentals that can affect your future.

there are so many people that try to take whats yours that you must fight to retain it.

the problem is the more successfull you are the more you have to fight, the more you fight the yuckier you appear to others and that affects important factors.

mostly because there are a large % of followers in life that just follow, even if its not right, they follow .

its tough being awesome underpants but i reconize your awesomeness <3

ack i hate that.
i dont go for credits myself, and i dont care too much about it.
still, mornans who go about claiming it was their idea, and if things go wrong its your fault make my gut wrench. not because i wanted the credits, but because its insulting to my intelligence.
take some responsibility, cunt. its the same type people who take vacations in the busiest times of the year.

Usually, those kind of people turn out to be ass kissers as well. Also, incompetent. If your boss is worth anything, he'll be able to see through it. If he likes that kind of ass kissing, he probably got where he is doing the same (in which case, you need to change jobs).

I was surprised to see how well credit is spread around our office. It's always "hey josh had this cool idea" or "jame's thinks if we do it this way". Makes it a great place to be an idea guy :D

fender, so then this type of personality is somewhat pre-canned and universal. Thanks for the validation, you fucking cock vendor.

MKJ, it never ceases to surprise me how deciduous the crybabies of the pat-on-the-back goodoldboy brotherhood seem to be. A cold snap and they turn yellow and drop.

I can't help but admire the new guy here, though. He was so unassumingly tentative in the initial interview. I am now tempted to blanket all those pheonii sons of the street with a man-fectionate role; dudeskies who've suffered and risen from the ashes of this bleakonomy, who seem to have a timeless resilience for the insufferable ego-maniacal drones, who ...
whatever the guy's pretty legendary and it is surprising he was without work. A moment of pause and gratitude for being the 90% right now.

plained, you've always seemed to have the 1000' view. Maybe from a pair of broken goggles. But still. So your response, for once, isn't startling. I was just curious to know how others have perceived or chosen to ignore in this situation.

Well said. Also, people who take credit for their employees' work either don't have much to offer themselves in the way of ideas, or have so little self-confidence that they've convinced themselves that they don't. It's sad to see the latter.

What's even sadder is to watch the making of the latter. When someone reports to a person like that for a long time, you can almost see them becoming one. :(

At my previous company there were several customer teams and some of the managers of those teams would mail the entire company that another project was done and in return, half the company would suck manager cock by replying with excessive congratulations.

My team manager never bothered to mail about things like this. The result was that upper management never noticed the HUGE projects we had done, while they got a hard-on for the simple 2 week projects done by teams consisting of mostly juniors.

That's genius, putting it in poetry format. It actually makes a lot more sense and the readability went up by over 500%.

haha, yep--very well done MRJ-Plained has always voiced his ideas with a fractured poetic edge to me, maybe that's just me though. I actually started the topic with a "me" sounding edge, but it's not necessarily my role that i am most concerned with--I'm pretty much just a systems janitor. No one wants credit for the shit I have to clean up around here :olo:. We do have, however, several principle team members who are both clever and creative, yet overlooked constantly in their efforts because of either minimized or misappropriated credit. Sometimes I get the feeling that those at the top feel as though they are entitled to all team credit. It's as if people below them are nothing more than implements, and even the smallest ripple of guidance is the only creative force involved. The Simpson's episode comes to mind where Homer describes how he won the game by coming up with a winning chant, when in reality, Otto pulled the 7 10 split.

Uni: you've touched upon a theme good managers everywhere seem to have mastered: letting go of the reigns a bit and allowing the creativity to flow unhindered. I think this is a necessary precursor for a team's success.

R00k, the making of the latter seems to be the mark of a weak mind, which isn't necessarily sad, so much as it is maybe a course of nature. To be honest, I started this thread with the suspicion that most people are intelligent enough to grasp the root insecurity in such behavior, but wondered if it that easily detected?

this seems to be the case here, as well. I"m curious how a CEO would sleep at night not really knowing how his product is developed, or more importantly, works "under the hood?"
