.. was fucking retarded. The general impression I got from you faggots was that it's so lame that it actually ends up being good (in a weird kind of way). In actuality, it's so lame that it ends up being incredibly lame, nothing more.

I rented Bubba Ho-tep and watched it a couple nights ago.
My take is, it was a decent movie. It's not one I would have been happy paying 8 bucks to see in the theater, but I don't regret renting and watching it.
Just the story and concept made it worth seeing -- the scenes and dialogue were well done, especially the semi-light, semi-serious tone of the "fight" scenes.
Obviously Bruce Campbell fans like it, but I don't know anything about the guy really. Even though I doubt I'll see it again, I'm glad I watched it.
I haven't seen Army of Darkness, btw.

To appreciate Army of Darkness you have to understand it's context.
Watch the movies Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2. After that, AoD is fucking Monty Python on a stick.

I've seen Evil Dead. AoD sucked. The ONLY good thin about it is the grocery store scene.

I know it's meant to be a spoof and not taken seriously etc etc. It's just unbearably lame .. and not very funny either. The only bit that made me even smirk a bit was when he's getting smacked around by the skeletal hands.

AoD is excellent. If you didn't like it you're either
1. not a fan of the genre
2. a zombie yourself
3. entirely without a sense of humour
or a mixture of the above, that's also possible.

I used to watch AOD quite often, no reason why, but I just loved the film. Far better than Evil Dead 1 and 2 where ash was a clumsy fool.

aye, that's what makes it a great film for a lot of people (me included). the way that it follows directly from its predecessors - after having his shit thoroughly ruined by the evil dead, Ash goes through a bit of a transformation and sorts things out.
