Need some laptop recommendations for a colleague

Friend of mine is a typical, run of the mill, web/graphic designer using Photoshop, Illustrator, flash, etc, etc, etc, etc...work is getting him a new laptop of his choice. Asked me for some recommendations, but I am out of the loop. Main stipulation is that it can't be a mac (which is really too bad considering the work he does...)

Usually has a lot of large files open at the same time, multiple apps going, the usual...He did ask what the best, most vibrant and clear displays are on laptops right now, so any info on that would be helpful too.

I'm guessing if he is going to be doing some more demanding work he shoudl go with a something other than a centrino processor or another mobile one...

Any recommendations or information would be really appreciated.

thanks.

Sony's Xbrites are amazing screens. Toshiba has a great lcd also. the rest boils down to $$ for processing power.

He should re-evaluate his stance on Mac and get a PowerBook. It fits your description 100%.

He may want a tablet PC if he's using photoshop & illustrator.

There was one I saw that one side of the screen was a regular screen and when you turned it around it was a tablet PC.
