All right. So the lease on my apartment is up in May and I need some ideas. I could certainly stay in minneapolis and make hardly any money etc etc. But. I don't really have anything holding me back here, so i pose the question: are there any badass summer jobs you peeps know about? I'd like to get the hell out of here, and either:

a. make a lot of money
b. make a little money and have a great experience
c. make a lot of money and have a great experience

On my mind atm: forestry service, working in alaska doing something with fish, porn, teaching english somewhere

Might consider looking to go out of the country and do something like teach english. With the economy like it is, any 'good' and somewhat standard job is probably going to be hard to land.

Porn doesn't pay guys enough... though the fringe benefits RULE... Alaska is the place. Lotsa money with not a lot to spend it on. That's the way to come up on the dough. You might consider heading for the coast (either) and setting up some sort of vendor type of deal. Summer beach work is the stuff legends are made of. You're young, either one has its rewards. my friend worked on a salmon boat in alaska last summer. made damn good money but got his ass kicked working 12 hour days.

If you want to make a lot of money and have a cool experience, go be a wind turbine maintenance guy. You could even take a 6 week course to learn the trade. Look into it...

Same, I knew a bodybuilder that did the same thing. Would work the boats in Alaska for 3-4 months a year and bring back enough cash to pay for his drugs, living expenses, etc., for the rest of the year. It was ass-kicking work though.

Try applying for a cruise ship or resort job. You'll get room and board, plus some cash.

From what I've heard, working on a cruise ship is awful.

I've never worked a ship or resort. But the thought of free travel, room, board, a pay check and exotic women was why I suggested it.

Maybe it's not that great of an idea Zeek.

Friend's wife performed on a cruise line as part of a short stint a broadway show did on them or something. The life the 'help' on board leads is far from one of free travel and exotic women.

in Canada , a lot of students get a job called tree planting for forrestry companies.

decent money if you work your ass off.
rough camping lifestyle
decent free food
lots of freinds to make
lots of chicks to meet
it will be an adventure but not glamorous at all = small tent living , bugs , bears and sweat

Move to St. John for the summer and work at a dive shop. Or maybe see about cheap labor in Belize.

its nice because u can learn alot about something valueable and important imo.

valueable becuz down the line u could go on to start ur own sub constact crew or even ur own company to generate income.

important becuz imo comitment to modern civilization beutifacation is something that should be forever increasing imo

I have a friend who goes season to season working in different resort hotels across the country. He seems to really enjoy it. This winter he is working out of some ski resort in Colorado that sits off a huge lake with an amazing view.
