Lycos closes!

This is just a reminder for everyone having an account on or a webpage created with tripod lycos: this service will be closed by the end of the day so save your files, pictures and everything else and start looking for another free webspace provider. If you find an anonymous one just like tripod let me know; I've been searching for two days now and haven't found an equivalent. Either it isn't for free doesn't have a webspace as big as tripod (they offered 1 GB for free!

) or you have to have a legal section on your homepage where you list your name, address and so on. It was a nice time building up my homepage and it wasn't even finished yet! Dammit...

Reminder? I must have missed the memo. Thanks for the heads up, all my old files are stored there, I'll see about transferring it all onto my own server. A lot of them are from screenshots for tutorials that I created over the years so this means a lot of unexpected work for me.
Edit: 516 files, almost 50MB worth of stuff. Found some pretty interesting and old stuff that I forgot about.

It seems that lycos got "saved in the last minute" at least one of the users described it that way in one of the tripod forums. Dammit, I (and obsidian, too) had a busy time backing up all that stuff and making last minute changes so that my homepage could be easily transferred onto another server and all of a sudden, it says: "Nevermind, tripod will continue anyway, although with some possible minor changes in the future"?
I just hope that you drew some advantage out of your back up, obsidian (quote: Found some pretty interesting and old stuff that I forgot about.) and that I didn't make you waste too much time.

No, didn't require a lot of work, just fired up the FTP program and let it download all the files locally. Probably should have done that ages ago anyway.
