Parentals are getting high speed...

Finally, now that I'm not living with them anymore, they now have high speed available to them. Yes, they live out in the sticks, just like Booger.

Anyways, I wanted to know how it compares to other high speed lines. The standard is 384kbps for $40. I'm only concerned with my gaming capabilities. Will this be fast enough for my Halo 2 games? I know nothing of speeds, so I don't know how this compares to others.

ya HSI these days is up there in standards now
-anything under 3Mb is NOT fast [but not slow]

384 is enough to game if they dont do wierd stuff to it. Just make sure you dont multitask your bandwidth

oh yeah, whats the upload speed? 384 for both up and down seems unlikely.

my parents live right on the edge of 3 different townships. it's a sort of limbo. they have an X address, a Y school system, and a Z phone carrier. they can't get high speed. if they lived on the other side of the road (which is not developed yet), they could have gotten BOTH DSL and Cable for 3 years ago. as of this moment, (because of the significant distance to their telephone switch), they can only connect at 26.4 kbps. absurd.

now that i'm moved out and married i have comcast highspeed. 6 Mbit down / 768 up for $49. not bad.

well that might not be the correct answer, it depends on how much upload bandwidth u have

you need 16kbyte/s upload for quake. dunno bout the other games but i expect them to be round the same maybe a bit higher. so 384kbit upload is more than enuff. now all you gotta worry bout is ping :/
