For the most part. Home should still offer the remote desktop though.Chupacabra wrote:do you have to have XP pro to do something like that? i have pro but im not too sure what the differences are between that and home. i think it has something to do with networking right?

Im not sure if 2k Pro offers Terminal Server or not...try looking in your windows components under add/remove programs. I know Server does.bork[e] wrote:bitWISE wrote:Start->Run->type mstsc->press enter

no, Home only offers Remote Assistance. you need XP Pro for Remote Desktop.Chupacabra wrote:ok thanksbitWISE wrote:For the most part. If it does you can install the Terminal Server on the machine at home and then there is an included program that makes a client install disk. I've never tried it over the net but I don't see why it wouldnt work.

i know Riddla knows this, but for those that don't port 3389 will be automatically configured if you're using XP's Firewall (SP2).riddla wrote:you have to have port 3389 open on the firewall to use RDC.
Well TightVNC is an open-source program; so you can download the source-code and see what it's doing. The reason those programs are saying its spyware is because it could, if you don't password the server, be used like a trojan on your PC; but it is perfectly safe.
With Tight VNC, is there a way to make the screen I'm connecting to smaller. I'm getting sick of scrolling down to click my start menu.
