I did think about registering with my nick from raw's forum or one of my others, but I figured I'd stick with me proper name for consistency :D

You really should add Doom2.net to the DOOM I/II list. It doesn't look like much at first glance, but that site is _the_ bastion for people looking for information on DOOM II.

Also, have you considered listing where match demos for these games can be found?

I know the competitive side of gaming isn't for everyone, but usually, if a game comes and goes and I never really get into it, and then years later I take interest, pretty much the first thing I do to find out what the game was (or is) like is to search for great demos.

For instance, if I want to know what CPM is like without playing for a hundred hours, I could go to Challenge-TV and download literally thousands of demos.

For that matter, Challenge-TV is also the largest archive for match demos from ZDaemon, as well (the ultra-popular client/server DOOM engine), and other id games like RtCW and ET.

Oh, and QW. :)

And that wasn't just a shameless CHTV plug either -- there are tons of better sites to get Quake III demos from (namely Cyberfight.org), as well as other id games' demos.

But yeah, have you considered adding a list for that? Here's a wuick run-down, in my opinion, of the best places to get id match demos.

DOOM II (doom2.exe) -- http://doom2.net/doom2/lmps1.html

ZDaemon -- http://challenge-tv.com/index.php?mode=demos&game=42

QW (and vanilla Quake) -- http://challenge-tv.com/index.php?mode=demos&game=2

Quake II -- http://challenge-tv.com/index.php?mode=demos&game=5

Quake III -- http://cyberfight.org/site/demos/search/?game_id=1

ET/RtCW -- http://www.challenge-tv.com/index.php?m ... os&game=39

Consider adding these.

The DOOM II COMPET-N link is out of date.

http://www.doom2.net/%7Ecompet-n/index.cgi should work. COMPET-N is the DOOM/II/etc speedrunning community site.

Removed the links to the now defunct 3D Gamers.
If anyone knows what happened to their archives and whether they're still around, please post in this thread.

Further trimmed the dead links.
I'm amazed that some of the more obscure stuff there is still up and running.

One of these days I'll start adding new stuff to it :E

Thought I'd suggest this doom music, or the doom depot in general for your project (I love archive projects like this)

Thanks.

If anyone around here still enjoys playing netquake/quakeworld, Johnny Law put together an omnibus of sorts covering a buttload of relevant stuff on choosing a quake engine, troubleshooting your setup, and multiplayer with bots. The guides are published on Steam but also at his own website. I dicked around with frogbot quite a bit back in the day but am just now getting back into it and JL's guide made it a painfree experience.

http://neogeographica.com/site/pages/guides/index.html

Btw, a new progs.dat was made by trinca that gives the Frogbot Clan Arena mod support for like 370 ish maps. Downloads to all the stuff are right there on the site. Seriously, when I found all this shit it was like Christmas.
