xml files - how to open

I downloaded an xml file (around 250mg) but cant get it to open - explorer says a parsed error occurs, Firefox takes so long that I stop it and it gives a similar message :confused:

any tips or suggetions greatfully appreciated.

a 250 meg xml file..............WTF

just forget it, or buy 2 gigs of extra ddr-ram

Its gotta be workable, its a file from the USA national medical library ffs, its their MeSH index which is world famous, used everywhere etc etc. :(

edit what about 3rd party apps??

dont think notepad can open a 250mb file sir

s@m, the fact that its used elsewhere doesnt mean its used a a whole. it most likely runs through a xslt processor that lifts out only the stuff it needs.
it doesnt open the entire file per query :)

I was, when I get stuck with a problem like this, I often post here: the collection of expertise crosses most professions and response times are pretty good :)
