onboard video card giving me hell

Installed win2k pro few minutes ago. Boot up and disable the Intel card attached to the mobo. Do some updates install some software and reboot, on boot up it looks up. So I resort to VGA mode...and notice that the intel card is installed and going again. So I disable it and start that process again...
I don't have the option to disable like I think I had in XP, and if I don't remember to unistall before I restart I have to go through the kill the computer, boot in VGA mode, kill the card etc...
What's going on here, I'm confused.

read your motherboard manual .. you may be able to manually disable it.

BIOS is saying that the onboard card is disabled. I've got all updates and sotware installed, so shouldn't have to restart for a while.
Would like to know what the deal is though if anyone has fixed this before.
hmm, I'll check more into the manual when I get some sleep. thx

i had this problem with a built on intel videocard on a e-machine..
The only thing that came of it was leaving it alone, and making the expantion card the primary...

mmmmm, restarted it last night after the quake installation and all seems fine. I didn't disable the intel card but the windows screen still went weird for a second. know what I'm saying, the windows 2k thing kinda looked weird for a split second before it started up like it does when it locks up.
Anyway, this want be a problem or any kinda issue will it? Doesn't appear to be and the monitor isn't flickering like it did before during the first few seconds of being on the desktop...so I guess it's happy now.
