I created a little program in mysql/php. All it does is keep track of how much I've spend/made, monthly sum totals etc. It actually made me spend less, cause you find out a lot of money is spent on shit.

Cuz you're paranoid.
There's a greater chance some schmuk will watch you enter your PIN at the atm, then mug you than havig someone steal your financial info.
I have this debate with my old man all the time. Fact is, setup properly, it's more secure than a bank book lying around or just sitting in your desk drawer.

I don't use ATMs much and when I do this town is small enough that there's relatively little chance that there will be someone there when I do. I also don't leave my info just laying around anywhere. It's mostly in my head. I'm not paranoid, I just don't have the need to do online banking and such. I don't mind making the effort to do it normally. I also don't have a cell phone, PDA, or any of that other crap that I'll probably never use.

aye, it does make life a lot easier.
for personal stuff, i've got a money management app on my zodiac and another one to encrypt it.
as long as you're a bit sensible about it, there's no harm in keeping financial info on your pc - more important to worry about how little security everyone who has your personal/financial info uses.
well i'm not really putting any exciting information like my account number and visa number, but i just want to keep track of what i spend money on and balance my checkbook electronically so i can really easily see what i am spending my money on.
