In conjunction with that, according to GameDaily, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said the company is planning a second new Prince of Persia title, this one based on the movie and completely unrelated to the retooled version of the game. Speaking at the Ubidays 08 press conference in Paris, Guillemot said the game is currently planned for release at the same time as the movie, although other details have not yet been settled.

It may look great, but why slap the PoP title on it? To me it looks and sounds different enough, in my opinion ugly but that's just personal preference anyway, to just start a different series if they want to.

It IS a different series. Its not the same prince, its a new story.

Then why use the same title? I know that the marketing dep. thinks it will draw in some extra buyers, and it probably will. But still, how do you link a totally new story, with absolutely no link to the previous one, to the Prince of Persia title? I know I'm nitpicking and it's C&C generals all over again when it comes to branding, I just wish there was some sense in people, both marketing and buyers.

I saw the screenshots a couple days ago, looks fucking awesome. Wish there was video of the gameplay, just to see it all in motion.

the trailers shows some random FMV fightscene.
i dont quite like the idea of the ol DARK VS LIGHT !!1 setting, now with some chick as the Element of Light. they do promise plenty of acrobatics, tho more in a Assassins Creed style gameworld (hub + locations, free running)

we'll see how it pans out. the pic with the lavapool looks plenty PoP to me

Surv is 100% correct. The game has nothing to do with the actual PoP and they're only using the title to attract attention.

I really shouldn't do this, but I'm going to reply anyway.
If you're going to compare this to the Doom or Quake series, then it'd be like id Software releasing a game again under the title "Doom" or "Quake", as opposed to "Doom 4" or "Quake 5". The number shows it's a different installment in the series. If Ubisoft had called this "Prince of Persia: Whatever fancy subtitle you want", then there'd be no discussion.

I don't care about the title alltogether though. I just think the game looks brilliant.
