which one do you prefer? in terms of challenge, advanced AI thingy...
I'm more of an offline player (high ping XD XD) so I need opinions
it's been a year since I've last dropped by here!

I heard that Spiterbot cheats, so I wouldn't use that one.
It teleports to dodge and teleports plasma, apparently.
So it won't make you better at playing against people.
[Edit: In my experience, Spiterbot was ridiculously hard and it seemed quite likely that it was cheating, especially since it needed a mod to work. Edit2: Having said that, the CPMA bots obviously need CPMA to work so that doesn't say much.]
So play against the CPMA bots - I haven't played against them myself so I'm not sure how good they are (good, meaning realistic, not 'hard to beat').
I suggest you play FFA online now and then not just against bots, even though your ping is high, cause you get more varied moevement from your opponents that way. Bots tend to have set routes about maps so you don't get the variety you will online, so it's not good to train against bots only but it is good. I liked Lakerbot myself when I used to play against bots more than I played online.
I heard that a lot of work has gone into the CPMA bot code so you might find they are quite realistic but I don't know how realistic; they're probably still pretty limited like all Q3 bots are, simply because they must use paths set out by the mappers (the poeple that made the maps or "levels"), unless they scrapped that for CPMA somehow *shrug*.

thanks DTS...
just played online earlier... which is also my 3rd online game after 3 years... I sucked so badly hehe
anyways...
CPMA bots are great, I played with them and it was great... Spiterbot however is somewhat inuhuman but put a great challenge, but they suck in space maps...

The Cpma bots are suicidal..if it's a map with falls, water, acid...or any other hazard zone. So their pretty much useless on the majority of maps. Even the level 1-5 suck ass as they also drowned themselves or run right past you without seeing you....plus the 50-100 are just as much like cheating bots(aimbots). Their good if you like closed in maps like cpm1a, cpm3a(except landing in acid), cpm15, cpm22, etc.

An example of how true this is, do /addbot rat 999
For added giggles, fire up q3dm17.

In that case I suggest Lakerbot.

yeah..no joke If they kill you as often as they fall then it would be an even game.. I never quite understood the 1-100 set-up. They couldn't have just had it be 1-10 bots. Like..the real shining bots are level 46 and 73, because the level 47 and 74 aren't that great.

pretty dumb

Spiterbot was always a nice destraction from online play. It was quite interesting to see how many kills you could get on a level in 10 mins in a 1v1 match (My record was 30 I think)
Although it "cheats" it does make you think quick and makes you learn to run maps well as you need all the armour you can get your hands on

Or you could try Brainworks.

It's an interesting view on AI any way.

I tried the Brainworks bot...and interestingly it appears to still be in development. Verdict: can strafe jump (though it doesn't very often or with real purpose) but it is tactically weaker than even the 1.27 Lakerbot. Once it gets eyes on, it will follow you like a lost puppy...which means it's easy meat most of the time. I'll give the Spiterbot a go...my guess though is that it is just a less well developed version of the bots found in CPMA (qrealka was the main dude for both).
