My thoughts:
You're looking at an SLI 8800 Ultra setup, high-end DDR3 RAM, an ultra high-end mobo (such as an nForce 790i), and the Intel Core Extreme QX9800 quad core.
BTW is your work paying for this or what?

Good on ya for getting a blank check.
I'd also recommend getting dual monitors as you can have many more tool/process monitor windows open instead of doing menu hopping within your application.
What are you reconstructing in the computer? Trade secret?
Give it up anyways, bitch.

wouldent a app like that need the extra GPU that the Quatro's have?
rather then a consumer based product like the 8800's?
i.e.
http://www.nvidia.com/object/quadro_fx_5600_4600.html

1.5 GB memory on the 5600 and a ton of bandwidth....nice.

the
best card is probably a FireGL v8600/8650

indeed, you need a workstation card, not a consumer one
Oh, and more than 3GB of RAM won't do anything for you if you run a 32-bit OS

Get a 64-bit CPU. They run x32 apps as fast or often faster than x32 chips anyway, because all of the fast, new chips coming out are x64.

BTW if you want raw performance for this and if it's for business use, you'll be better off investing in a mid-spec server that can house 2 or more quad-core CPUs. Assuming the application is muti-core aware.
If it isn't, then just get one of the fastest old single cores you can find. Raw speed on a single thread is higher.
