LAN + random disconnects?

I'm at my friends house atm and w/ UT3/UT04 and Q3 when we're playing one of us [not the host] gets disconnected or something.
Any idea why? Isn't it basically localhost?

Not exactly. Try pinging his machine and see if you get timeouts (and vice versa, let him ping the others). Could be a problem local to his PC, like an overzealous virus scanner, or it could be something as mundane as a broken UTP cable.

Any chance you can test it with a cable? You could try changing the channel / frequency in the access point, on the off chance that a nearby wireless network is interfering.
