If both these guys had been in the same generation and fought each other when they were both at their peak, who do you reckon would have won? Would Ali have been regarded as the king of boxing or Tyson?

He's not smart enough for Ali's mental game to have any effect.

Although he was a bit past his prime at the time, Tyson was completely outlcassed as a boxer by guys like Evander and Lennox Lewis when he fought them. Also, had Ali been training with today's advances in diet/exercise/strength you'd have have an even better Ali.

I always thought a Lennox Lewis at his peak beats Tyson at his peak. That being the case, I think Ali beats him....but its really hard to do any sort of prediction on this kind of stuff because no matter what anyone says about him, every boxer is one Tyson uppercut away from being knocked out....

Tyson was impressive fighter, Ali was magic, he was big, hit hard and move very fast, put all that with those long arms of his makes Tyson a loser in this fight.

Sure would be great to see a fight like that, we can only surmise what the outcome would really be

In his prime Tyson would have beaten Ali. Most people disagree with this due to their dislike for Tyson's personal life and are unable to remain objective.

Tyson has an amazingly powerful bite, too.

Ali would win. Tyson in his prime wasn't fighting guys who could hit him hard and a lot, like Ali would have.

IMHO... Tyson didn't stay good long enough to actually reach his prime. If he'd maintained some sense of self control long enough to get some more years of legit experience, he might have been able to give Ali a run.

Tyson could never come close to absorbing the type of punishment that Ali could. Plus Ali was much faster. Tyson would have the wild card of his knockout punch though.

Tyson never took any punishment. I mean, boxers don't take any punishment in all those years of training and fighting it takes to become a multiple world champion. I doubt Tyson had ever received a punch at all before his first professional defeat.

And even if he ever did take punishment, he couldn't handle it like Ali, just ask Puff. Plus Tyson was a literal sloth, I've never seen a boxer move so slow.

Yeah, because that's exactly what he meant. Yeah, every boxer goes through the stages. Tyson had his days in the gym and in the sun, and his training. But, Ali took it to another level, a level that Tyson can't reach. I think Ali would have owned Tyson in a bad way. His technique was superior to Tyson's and I don't think Tyson would have had the chance to land the "winning punch" as easily as he might have liked. Same as when Tyson fought Holyfield.
