[MAP]Revenga! beta4

This map lurked on my HDD for over 1,5 years now, and now it's time to get it out of it's nest.
It's called Revenga! (SoaD \m/) and is aimed at 1on1. The layout is fairly simple, so it's not really suited for pro-gamers but more for the average gamer that wants to hop in for some nice tourney frags.
The detail is too much in some places so the r_speeds are quite high. I know about this problem, but hey it's 2007 ;)

I'd especially like to get some feedback on the item-placement and the looks of the map, but generally i'd just like you to test the map and give some advice.

Wow! At first I thought this was for Q4 and was going to comment on how the textures had a slight Q3 feel to them and then I noticed the Q3 health bubble and shards.

Very interesting details, I'm downloading this one and I'll see if I can get some thoughts later during the week.

Few pointers...

* Sky texture doesn't load for me.
* Player clip small protrusions that affects player movement, especially downstairs... but keep the small nooks that players can climb into.
* Either clip off areas on top of the blinking lights or texture the caulked bits, I can see the void. You also over-aggressively caulked other areas that you can rocket jump up to. Either clip or texture.
* For vanilla Q3, a few of those ledges are slightly too high. It's do-able, but not easily. Maybe bevel the edges ever so slightly.
* Nice quad.

trying textures/cardigan_skies1/circlegradlightningblur2.TGA...

and Damn!!! this map is beautiful! I don't believe that you are capable of making a bad map. It has some good gameplay also...pro or not(well I'm a pro..hehe)but yeah. Also, Pfft Q4!! Q3 still runs the show...and this is one more good example. :D

I think that you can come up with a better color theme then having all lights white. Other that that it looks good.

The sky will get fixed.
It's kinda messy in my quake3 folders, so something always goes wrong when making my pk3s...

Hey ! I forgot to ask about that point :) It's good that you mention it. I'll most likely go with the texturing instead of clipping.

Most of the textures are from MrClean's Texture Set 4 (http://mrclean.planetquake.gamespy.com/2dart.shtml)
and some additional by Rorshach.
I think that you can come up with a better color theme then having all lights white. Other that that it looks good.
I thought about having these white lights more yellowish, but that could be too much of warm colors. Colder colors don't really fit the theme, so i sticked to white. But i'll do some testing.

That's being caused by one of the other map.pk3's in your baseq3 folder. That error exists in many maps that are caused by other custom maps shaderfiles...it's probably the most annoying one to try and figure out. Put stralet1_beta4 map in your baseq3 folder all by itself, and then add your other maps in little groups and test each time, and then you'll figure out which map is doing it. ...that's if you care I guess...I dunno=)

I will fix the teleporter with the next beta. So you don't really need to search through your pk3s just to see something black ;)

Well, I do test all maps in a clean install of Q3A, that's the reason why I find missing textures which are part of mapmedia.pk3, like it is in this case. :p

I refuse to believe this is a Quake 3 level!! HACKZ!! :p

Simply awesome work sir, shows how much lifethe Q3 engine still has left, you should be proud.
