[q3a] final release of spirit3ctfduel1 - Where Fears Collide

My first CTF map is final.
The map was initially designed for the idea of a 1vs1 CFT mappack, but it has evolved a bit and can handle more than 2 players. I prefer 2vs2, but you have some real intense action at 3vs3. CPMA is recommended.

The .map files are included and GPL'd.

Nice man. I like what you did with the wall behind the RG. Feels more like a additional hall space now. The lower JP looks good now. I knew just where it was going to put me. No getting snaged or landing on the lights in the lower halls.
I know there were some complaints about the water near the LG, but I like it. It gives a bit of a slowdown if you want that health thus adds a bit more thought and urgency to the game play.
I still got snaged on those bars in front of the SG when jumping from the LP near the PG, but only some of the time. Most of the time I had a smoth landing that took me right through the bars and to the SG.
I like that you have to stay on your toes. The enemy was able to grab the flag right out from under my nose a few times. Cool.
All in all I would say you have a very fun CTF map there. Good work. :icon14:

I played with cpma bots for about 5 minutes and it was fun.
But bots never went for specific areas such as railgun and lower path from the base.
...and can I pack this map as one of the CTF-1on1 or duelctf maps?
Because both you and pjw targeted for cpma, I'm planing to rename the packname to "cpma-duelctf-mappack".
What do you think?
BTW, partial batch processing of mirix worked.
something like this
Code: Select all
path\to\mirix.exe full\path\to\*.mir /r

I'm planing to rename the packname to "cpma-duelctf-mappack
The official maps are named cpm* and cpma* so it would be better to avoid a name that could be confused with these.

Good to know you haven't abandoned the idea of the mappack. Will you really release it at the end of the year (as I think you said in the thread? Did anyone else announce to submit a map you're still waiting for elsewhere (like at another forum)?
About renaming it: Better avoid the the possible confusion as ix-ir suggested. A note on the readme that CPMA is recommended should be enough.

O.K.
Which do you think better of the following examples?
1. ucpma-duel-ctf-pack (u:unofficial)
2. duel-ctf-pack
3. compact-ctf-pack
4. tiny-ctf-pack
5. humble-ctf-pack
6. ctf-pack-4-quickies
Or do you have your own nomination?
@dichtfux
Currently total number of map is 6. (you x1 + pjw x1 + mine x4)
Plus I'm planing to remake one more map similar to silly shootings.
There is no space map at the moment.

On the name: I'd prefer "tiny-ctf-pack". I'd stay away from things like "ucpma-*".

That's a great feature of this mappack imo.

Sounds good to me.
I'd avoid any use of "cpma".

q3tcp (tiny ctf pack) and number the maps q3tcp1, q3tcp2 etc. Or q3dctf (duel ctf) but keep it short so people can easily remember what to callvote.

Thank you for opinions.
Probably it will be named q3duelctfpack(q3dcpN for each map, following the famous convention, q3wcp as such).
