The Minuteman project

Haven't been following the development of this until just recently...

What do you think about this idea - civilian "volunteers" (or vigilantes, imho), patrolling the Arizona/Mexico border to prevent illegals from crossing. I believe that they are only supposed to inform legit border patrol authorities, but I am guessing that there are, sooner or later, going to be cases that border on lynch mobs of rednecks doing some pretty horrible things to people. Yesterday on the news they were showing a few of these volunteers...you had a ton of your typical "America...FUCK YEA!" guys driving a caravan of their Fords and CHevy's along the border, as well as a bunch of old people, who are desperately attempting to maintain a useful existence, and are going to do so by radioing back to the younger rednecks about what they see.

Should be interesting to see what kinds of things happen in the next few weeks.

ROFL that sounds great.
There's one thing you can never hold against your government: At least they keep y'all entertained.

The US should build a biggass fence from coast to coast along the Mexican border like the Isreali wall. Let's see Paco pole vault a 40' high cement wall.

Wasn't Minuteman the name on some of the first US nuclear missiles? Those huge ass things that where fired from underground silos?

Their mission statement, AFAIK, is only to bring government attention to the immigration problem. They have said that anything "untoward" happening would only hurt their cause instead of helping it.

I don't like the idea of groups like this taking the law into their own hands, but with the hypocrisy of BushCo on the immigration/terrorism issue, coupled with 6 Iraqis caught trying to cross the Mexican border in the last week with fake passports and visas, I can't really say too many negative things about this.

Something has GOT to be done about it and the government isn't doing it.

Lets hope we get something similar to keep out all the illegals here :D

How come Mexico doesn't hold their own Olympics?

Because all the ones that can run, jump, and swim are already across the border.

Not something you want to call yourself IMO.

I think that in principle it's a great idea, as illegal immigration is a LARGE problem in the US. Unfortunately, I see it ending up as a bunch of Wal-Martians riding the border in pickups bugging the shit out of border guards.
I heard on the radio this morning that they've already caused a bunch of false alarms, and that several white power organizations have thrown their support behind what they see as an anti-beaner movement.
