Quiet cases?

I want something that contains the noise of my system as much as possible. I found some Antec cases for $120 which seems a bit much. Any suggestions?

If a system allows good airflow it's going to allow noise to escape.

Best bet is to buy components for low-noise, such as a fanless motherboard, decent zalman CPU HSF, larger (120mm) ball-bearing 'quiet' case fans with variable speeds, cushioned hard drive bays, and line the case walls with acoustic cushioning material. Plus mounting every screw fitting you can with rubber o-rings helps too.

Yep, I've got the P180. Very annoyed that a week after I'd built my rig the brushed black alu version came out...

But yes, an incredible case, for both keeping stuff cool and being quiet. The 120mm fans move lots of air very quietly.

My Thermaltake sounds like an airliner is taking off. I really need to look into getting quieter fans :(

I have a Sonata II with a dampening kit (heavy rubberized foam to attach to the inside). It's more or less completely silent.

The PSU that comes with it is crap though. I got a Seasonic S12 500W instead, and it's really quiet.

:icon14: My brother has this one. He also picked up that fanless Antec PSU and a Scythe Ninja fanless CPU heatsink. The combination makes his computer weigh a ton and a half but totally silent.
