Thats not to bad, 42 incher? I think, from what I've seen thus far, 42inch is the bare minimum for full HD to really have an effect. I've seen smaller ones and to be honest, 720p came off looking either the same or (strangely) slightly better.
For the price it looks class though. But remember you get what you pay for, and with other 1080p HD TV's being a lot more expensive, I hope its not a case of it being a poor mans HD set.
Either way, I haven't a fucking clue, I'm just waiting for a download to finish so I'm killing time. Good luck to you in the future sir, and a happy new year.
Cunt.

that totally depends on your viewing distance.

Samsung LE40F71B. 40" 1080p, and it accepts true 1080p input too (unlike some of the Sony and Philips models). This is the model number that is used in the Netherlands and Germany. I don't know if the UK has different models, because the UK site didn't list this one.
I have this one on order right now, for about €1900 (which is about 1200 pounds?)

I just bought a Toshiba 42HL196 which stated that it was 1080p as well. It didn't accept a 1080p signal just converted it to 1080p I so I returned it. This one might be the same.

nope, the Samsung accepts 1080p signals over HDMI (it has HDMI 1.3 ports), component and VGA input. You can check
this (enormous) thread on AV Forums if you like to do a little reading

Because the image quality is poor in comparison to LCD, I don't wish to pay for a recharge and I don’t like spending good money on technology that’s on its way of the door.

You may want to look into Plasmas a little more. The info you're quoting seems a bit dated. Today's Plama TV have a 60,000 hour life span. That means you could watch TV non-stop for 6.8 years.

They also have a higher contrast ratios (10,000:1) than LCDs, making for birghter pictures. Plasmas typically have wider viewing angles and sharper pictures too.

image quality poor compared to HD? lol, actually it's a tad better thanks to plasmas having a much better black level than LCD's, but if you don't know what black levels are (most don't), then LCD's are best for most people.

I have tried both LCD and Plasma, and by a zillion miles the picture is better on a plasma.

That's what people with an LCD TV say.
People who have had both, say Plasma.

I picked up a Toshiba LCD on boxing day (hung over and bored that morning). One of them 37" jobbies, well impressed with it, especialy with the 360. For now thats good enough for me.
I was told that only over 40" TV's (or maybe 42") will only do 1080p. Mine will do 1080i but cant tell any difference compared to 720p, either way it looks the sex.
When you on GOW next then DB?
