The stay in the case means Sony will not actually have to stop importing or selling the PlayStation 2 console in the United States, and will not have to remove PS2s from store shelves, while the appeal is pending.

heh... apparently sony must have ripped off Immersion's force feedback software to power the off balance motor in the dualshock controller.

hillarious that Immersion got awarded a settlement that = 3x their entire revenue for 2004.

Microsoft handled their stuff back in July of 2003 and settled out of court with Immersion.
Immersion holds patents for force feedback technology which cover certain aspects of the rumble effect used in game joypads, and also named Microsoft as a defendant in its original lawsuit in 2002 - but the Xbox manufacturer settled out of court in July 2003 by signing a licensing agreement with the firm.

ya its much closer to reality than what you'd first think.
Sony doesnt run a very profitable margin and with Bill Gates interfering with their mark of hitting a monopoly in the "Sony Living Room" idea....they are not very secure. M$ did a smart business move with the xbox which forces playstation into a high stakes competition if they want to completely dominate the market. Microsoft has the resources to play this gamble without a sweat and can even buy up all of sony if offered. On the otherhand Sony will hit the gutter hard if they make the wrong move.
And with the game making landscape turning more into a competition of buying out licenses, Sony's future is not exactly certain for success.
