What do you guys think of the Samsung SyncMaster 931B. It will be at Staples on Black Friday day for $130 after Staples easy rebate. My main question is are widescreen monitors more pain to get working correctly with resolutions and whatnot in Windows and in games. Also, it states it has an 8ms responce time, how good is that for gaming?
:EDIT: its a SymcMaster 931B, not 913B

a budd of mine has this mon from two year ago, i dont know what they have changed.. but asfar as i have sene its an ALLRIGHT tft,
And about the widescreen, NO! alot of the games support Widescreen ( except anythign from EA, thos cuntbags ) and if they dont, there are allways workarounds to make them display in a Res.
take a look at the Samsung 940BW, you wont be disapointed.

Well do you think it is well worth the $60 to go from that 913B to a 941BW on newegg? The only reason I am looking at LCDs is for college next year, and Black Friday sales are always nice.
Correction, it is the 931B, not 913B.

i'd go with the 931 for that price. you're not going to see a difference.

Well in the ad, click here, it says 1440x900 resolution and 4ms responce time. I hope that is the case, and I hope those are at my Staples. I will try to go by Staples sometime before Friday and see what the have.

Staples Easy Rebate. They work very well, you go online, enter the SKU and the Easy Rebate number on the receipt and then they send you a check. I went into Staples today and they didn't have the local circular available yet. I looked at their monitors and the only Samsung 19" they have is the 931B, it is possilbe they would get the 941BW for Black Friday sales, but I don't know. They are the same retail price.

Staples...their stuff isn't half-bad but never ever even go near their tech support. You'd be better off throwing rotten tomatoes at your computer than asking Staples for help. Poor me, blew $45 and they never even came up with an answer. I knew the whole time the mobo was at fault and wanted a "professional opinion". All I got was "WELL I NOT KNOW BUT POSSABEL BYU SUM STUFF FROM US LOL HEY BYU NEW COMPYTER RITE KNOW!!!!"
Amidy even told me a funny story about how stupid they really are.

Yea, i tend to take Staples with a grain of salt. I buy things there, and their sales and rebates are nice, otherwise I wouldn't consider them a good tech store.
Who all makes a good monitor these days anyway?

What about Phillips, NEC and Dell monitors?
So the 931B at $130 compared to the 941BW at $190 is not worth the price jump that much? I do kinda want widescreen, but the only true factor is the responce time, dot pitch, brightness and contrast ratios.

I've got a 17" Philips CRT. I bought it refurbished 4 years ago and to this date is working flawlessly. The image quality is excellent and the maximum refresh rate on 1024x768 is 85Hz. Don't buy anything Dell.
