Internet Connection Problem

Hi everyone,

I've had this internet connection for about a month or so with no major problems. But now it seems that after about 10-15mins or so, i wont be able to view web pages. Ping wont return anything and i get a "Cant connect to server" error in firefox. IE gives me a nice 404 error.

The weird thing is though, I can still chat over msn and my radio streams still work... =\ Can someone explain this one?

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

David

Are you using Bit torrent? If you are XP SP2 limits the number of open TCP connections and, on my system at least, drops internet connectivity once that limit has been hit.

Shove a broomstick up your ISP's ass.

Try using win2k it has unlimited connections. or get TweakUI and edit the connections policy.

Anyway what did your mother say about downloading porn while gaming !?

Is there a router involved somewhere? Try powercycling it / resetting it to the factory defaults, or testing without it.

also try netstat -b -v at the cmd prompt so you can take a look at all the components creating connections or listening ports for any executables.
