I have been hearing about the AMD quad-core processors and the new socket F. From what I have read the quad-core is going to be for servers, at least for a while. I am contemplating upgrading to a socket 939 because some of the procs are so cheap now and am wondering how long the 939 will survive.

Probably no quad core for desktop until late 2007/early 2008 as far as I know.

So basically it'll be until 2010 when the prices become reasonable.
