ok, so i installed this so frickin WMP classic could read .ssa subtitles and now WMP10 refuses to recognise the codecs for half my music collection (i.e. the half that's mp3), even though winamp is fine with those tracks

what's the story?

They're called codecs.

Uninstall the klite and try a different codec pack.

strange, I've never had any problems with K-lite.

Download a version with virii eh?

Clean install of lame i suppose. only thing i could think of.. *shrug*

that sounds like my xbox360. it plays most of the mp3s fine but some of them simply wont start (even though the files work on another medium)

so why r u using MS shitplaya anyways?

k-lite + MPC for video plus (old) winamp for audio worked allways fine for me :icon14:

Yeah, new winamp is up to par i'd say.

well considering the old versions are security risks and the newest 5.xx can do both classic and modern skins, i fail to see why you'd use it.

Try the newest version, its just as "fast" as the old.

Its still shite bud. Try the newest version, its just as "fast" as the old.

ey d00ds, I didn't want to recommend old winamp over 5.xx, that's why I put (old) in brackets - I even had them installed both for a long time (where 5.x definately took longer times to show than 2.9) - so I got stuck with the old one - that's just all.

update that out of date system then.

2.9 loads no faster than my updated version.

hm ... maybe you'right. back then I used 5.02 or 5.04 which needed an eternity ... think I'll check the new version

the old plugins, do they all run with 5.x?

you'll have to check each at winamp, but giess 2 works.

If k-lite codec pack isn't working right, try getting the CCCP codec pack. I don't know all of the details of it or whether it has what you're looking for or not, but alot of people have been reccomending it on other forums lately
