Quakewars delayed :(

The Strogg invasion originally planned for this holiday season has been postponed. Activision has confirmed that Enemy Territory: Quake Wars will not be shipping in 2006, which supports a comment made earlier this week by Splash Damage lead designer Paul Wedgewood.
In a GameSpy developer diary, Wedgewood wrote, "Unfortunately, sometimes effort isn't all you need -- sometimes you just need more time. To ensure the quality we want, we've decided to push the release out of 2006 to allow for extended testing, feedback and game balancing." We were impressed with the Quake Wars LAN demo at this year's E3, so it should be pretty solid by the time it ships.
Good news in a way!

Sorry if I seem ignorant but is there a demo or ahem... leak floating around so I can have a crack at it myself :icon26:

That's another 6 months. Is this going the route of Duke Nukem?
Games that are delayed by that much usually end up being shit.

Id much rather they do it this way than they put out a buggy game then have to put up with all the morons crying about it on a daily basis.

Prey wasn't hyped as much. It's a combination of hype and delay I guess. Also I said usually. Fuck I'm no gameotologist or whatever.

Ugh, just release it and patch it based on community feedback if these are the real concerns. I'd recommend a beta, but if it wasn't in the roadmap, maybe it wouldn't be feasible to change tack at this point. On the other hand, they did have a playable demo for E3, so maybe just modifying that for a beta would work.
IANAGD, but I think that there's probably a more specific reason behind the delay.

After watching what happened with Q4 its hardly surprising that they're taking the time to get it right rather than releasing it unpolished and then patching.

Yep and I'll be able to Finally say I told you so!
All that time I was touting Rocket Arena Clan Arena pics and the W H O L E community kept saying...
Clan arena is for noobs, its all about 1v1
Now you are the n00b and my skills at mastering mass arena combat is gonna pay off in Quake Wars since your useless 1v1 skills dont mean jack against my muti-targeting kill on the move skills!

-Muhuhahahaha! You are Doomed!

umm, no... it says "team based"
CA isn't team play, its group play.
team based implies battlefield style cooperative lame play.

You buy it, it's great, 1 week later... it's dull. Magic?

Delay means good news for me, I get to save up for a PC that will be able to render it in full quality.
In real time.
