Suppose a device uses AA 1.2V 1800 mAh batteries. Could the device be damaged in any way if they were replaced with AA 1.2V 2100 mAh batteries?

Aces. For reference, what exactly does the mAh stand for? Is that like the amperage of the current?

milliamps/hour. use some of the ratings with slight caution especially from generic manufacturers. they tend to overrate them, like a shady manufacturer would an audio amplifier.
