Fresh new Windows 2000 Server (updated all the way)
P4 2.4GHz
1.5gig ram
Symantec antivirus 10 corp (database excluded)
Oracle 9.2.0.1.0
Got an emergency issue with our payroll software, viweing the database is fine, but writing to it takes about 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Even with the AV services disabled.
Any suggestions?

Writing locally takes long as well, when I get back I am going to remove SAV, but assuming that disableing the services is almost the same...
At this poing I'll try everything. Yesterday both the company that creates the software and the company that sold is the software had their websites offline
18 hours till payroll...

any updates? I've seen network performance issues due to Oracle's love-hate relationship with AD/ dns.

Sadly I have three different groups working on this issue.
After replacing the System's memory and drives, Our support company called in the program developers, who now have Oracle techs working on it.
yes 2 payrolls submitted to HR in excel format for over 300 employees. HR is not verry happy.

300 employees?

, that's insane! hourly as well as salary? Who's going to play catch up when it becomes available again? Good lord, the company doesn't generate their own paychecks?
