Looks cool, if I did not have a mx510 I might get one, but it does not seem to warrent the 50 bucks from a mx510 to a new mx518

Is it still a 5 button mouse w/ a scroll wheel?
If so, I stick with my Microsoft Optical IntelliMouse.

look at their pictures,
button placement looks same as MX510, from the pix it looks like they have LED lights, dpi went from 800 to 1600 and the design is slightly different..
btw: i already love my 510, but like KOS, if i didnt have one already i'd get it, and hell, i payed $50 for my 510 3 months ago lol

I have whatever model number the 510's wireless edition was, but ditched in favor of a low end MS mouse with wheel and optical.. Cost me about $15, so I'm ready for a change. That and it matches my new case I'm looking at.

Actually posted.
I would start saving them as a kinda crappy proof, but it's not a big deal.

I'll be upgrading my MX500 to that as long as someone will sell it under $40. Never gonna pay $50 for a mouse or keyboard.

Well just wait a while and newegg will sell them below retail. I bought my MX510 from newegg this January and it was 38 and Logitech retails it at 49.95

Why do you need to change the resolution anyway?

KOS, I've seen the 510 for as low as $20. But it was just on sale...and I decided to not get it. My 500 is fine, though it's starting to look a bit worn.

I'm personally torn between waiting and buying this mouse (which is looking more and more like an MX510 with better software) and buying a MX510 for less than half the 518's MSRP.

I was too impatient to wait. Just ordered the 510 yesterday.

Doesnt the 518 have twice the res of the 510?

yes, from 800 to 1600 dpi..
not like its gonna make a difference, the 510 already has awesome tracking..

I'm confused.
MX500 = 800 DPI & 4.7 megapixels/sec
MX510 = 800 DPI & 5.8 megapixels/sec
MX518 = 1600 DPI & 5.8 megapixels/sec
I thought the megapixels/sec was somehow proportional to the DPI and sampling rate, but this would show otherwise.
WTF is megapixels/sec then.

I think it just means that at 5.8 megapixels a second, it process something like 3mb a second of imagery
