WOW. Those of you with a SACD player need to go get this compilation. They remixed The Downward Spiral into high resolution stereo and 5.1 surround. The sound quality is just amazing. When you listen to Hurt it litterally sounds like Reznor is giving you a personal performance.

Plus the bonus CD is full of rareities and B sides.

Yeah, I did. Actually I heard it from my father's Johnny Cash CD and he though NiN were the ones to cover it. 5 minutes of Googling later proved that wrong though. :smirk:

Yeah my step bro just told me Johnny Cash wrote it and I was like "wtf no way". I googled and found that video along with the real story. They say Reznor actually loved the video.

Hehe, after Googling Hurt, my father mentioned something about Beautiful People, to which I told him it was a Marilyn Manson song. He won that round. :p

Read the lyrics to all those. None are the same. Same titles, different songs.

I heard it on the radio a few times on an oldies station. I believe it's an 80's pop song and the artist is female.

edit: nvm, I was thinking of Sweet Dreams, done by Eurythmics, I believe.

I have this CD, and a SACD player I just got. Haven't even had time to hook it up yet. I don't have any ohter SACDs I don't think, and know nothing of the standard.

Is it still just stereo, or some surround sound shit? Because I only have 2 speakers.

SACD is anything you want it to be. I have a DVD player that supports SACD hooked up to an Infinity home theater system and it sounds so awesome.

If you put it in a typical CD player the CD plays like normal. If you have a 2 channel SACD player you get enhanced resolution. If you have a surround sound SACD player you can get the surround sound. It all depends on what your player supports and what the track was recorded in.

I have a few great surround sound albums. Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon is probably the best. Linkin Park - Reanimation DVD audio is really good and so is Awaken DVD audio.

Well, it's a Sony DVD changer that supports SACD.
I've got a Yamaha receiver that supports up to 6.1, but I only have 2 speakers so far. I'll get the 3 more speakers and a sub one of these days. :\

Sony owns the SACD format. And SACD is only 5.1. I'm holding off for a nice 7.1 reciever, 6.1 didn't really impress me much.

I've never been able to listen to any NiN song for more than about 5 seconds without getting bored.

I myself think 5 is enough hastle alone. So 6.1 is 1 more than I'll ever use.

P.S. They really ought to get rid of these damn quotequotequotequotequotequotes. Nested quotes, is that what it's called? :dork:

Aww fuck it, I actually dug out my copy of the downward spiral and listened to "hurt" and you're right, it's an amazing song. I never actually lasted that far into the album before....

You would like The Fragile. I'm not a huge NIN fan but I do enjoy many of their tracks and recognise that Reznor is a musical genius.

Go into your profile and say you only want to nest 1 quote deep. When you view threads it will only display one level.

"Eraser" is a quality track as well, really cool crescendo of noise...
