Any ideas?
Many of the people who used to post here don't come here much anymore. How can we make it more interesting again?
id Legends was the most fun forum around!

You can't force people to post in a forum. Indeed, a lot of evidence points to it being impossible to 'lure' them in consciously as well.
There's no site and no subject left here now, the Q3 players who had interest in older id games too have moved on in large droves.
Start playing a more popular up to date game and move into a forum localised for that game. Ataricommunity is a good example of a set of forums where you can talk about the latest of their games but visit all the older ones too.
