That's far from anyhing new...
The test site is still actively used today. In fact, on a few good nights of the year, you can see missile trajectories clear in the night sky.
Las Vegas locals all know of these tests and always look forward to them. With the test site, area 51, Nellis AFB, and red flag, military weapons showcasing is far from rare.
