ex-general of Iraqi Air Force says there were WMDs

From a recent Daily Show (DVR ftw!). I'm a bit surprised nobody else has mentioned this yet. Georges Sada was 2nd in command of the Iraqi airforce and directly adviced Sadaam. Very interesting guest. Video here:
http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_ ... l?start=17

He basically said that they DID have WMDs (1st person witness) and our pending invasion caused Sadaam to unload them to Syria. So, in once sense, the invasion was justified, but in another it just means we fucked up again. The goal was to keep the WMDs out of the hands of terrorists, not precipitate their acquisition.

Of course there is the rather major issue of this guy's credibility. Fame and book sales can be a pretty big motivational factor, so I'm not sure if I believe him or not.

In the end, result matter, not motivations, so I guess the fact that we fucked up this war from before it started through to current day is most important.

His word against dozens of scientists who actually worked on the programme. *shrug*

It's entirely imaginable people at the top were lied to by their underlings. That's what you get when you routinely dissapear people who say things you don't want to hear.

That's why I put "1st person witness" in my post. He claims to have seen them personally.

I've personally seen a magician saw this pretty lady in half, that didn't really happen either. :)

Those scientists that came forward were not only 1st person eyewitnesses, but had relevant knowledge and working experience. This guy has neither.

It also means a HUGE gamble on the side of Syria, and Assad is just not that dumb.

It's a bit too incredible for me, i don't believe it.

only problem? that pic was taken from a hotel in the green zone last summer and it has been photoshopped...rofl?

and all this cums from a guy whose a member of this homoness...and he hasn't been back in iraq since...MORON ALERT???...these politicians must hate the fact checking abilities of the internet...

"""Howard Kaloogian's "Truth Tour" to Iraq in July, 2005 was sponsored by Move America Forward, a non-profit, "non-partisan" outfit that Kaloogian founded. You might have never heard of them before, but you certainly know their work. It includes:

-- Producing a series of TV ads late last year that claimed Iraq did in fact have WMDs;

-- Shuttling pro-war protestors to Crawford to counter Cindy Sheehan's "Camp Casey" as part of their "You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy" tour;

-- a campaign supporting John Bolton's contentious nomination" for UN ambassador - including financing the ad campaign in Ohio that attacked Sen. George Voinivich (R-OH) for not backing Bolton;

-- backing U.S. detention policies at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by selling 'I [Heart] Gitmo' bumper stickers."

The "Truth Tour" sent five conservative radio-talk-show hosts to U.S. military bases in Baghdad for "a week of upbeat broadcasts.""""[/img]

aye.

everything i've seen on tv or read in the papers points to it being bollocks (or mostly bollocks) and your analogy's good - even if he's telling the truth from his point of view, they could've shown this guy anything so that he wouldn't shoot them. how's he going to know the difference between one rocket and the next unless someone takes the cap off and says 'there's the payload'.

i wouldn't be suprised if the iraqis chucked a few drums of nerve gas syria's way, but the last thing anyone knows they were looking at in terms of weapons that allow you to actually mass destroy stuff were just tagging exta rockets onto existing hardware to get a bit more mileage out of them - pretty pathetic stuff in terms of reliability and effectiveness.

say hello to general curveball. a theory doing the rounds before the war was that saddam handed out cash to his minions to spend on WMD and they spent it on hookers and palaces instead

even if it's true, so what if iraq had wmd's?

i don't think that justifies what was done.

why else would we ignore the source of terrorism entirely?
that doesn't make sense...we have thousands of nukes...so we could turn the entire region into glass literally...so a few nukes wouldn't be the reason...

I think the Netherlands should grow some too, or perhaps confiscate the US ones stationed here :smirk:
