What on earth do you need all that bandwidth for? 1mbit down is plenty for me.

Even for gaming I don't need to go any faster. If a game's network stability is halfway up to snuff, I can't tell the difference between 30 and 150 ping.

Sweden offers 1000mbit.
And Trans doesn't play FPS-games, judging from that statement.

Probably
up to 1000 mbit, if it's ADSL. The greater the distance between you and your DSLAM, the slower it becomes.
I work for a company that sells 20 mbit packages, yet most customers only (well, only) get up to 12-16 mbit. Though I have seen cases where a new employee, suited with the task of processing subscriptions, forgot to turn on the speed cap, resulting in some customers averaging 40+ mbit. One of them subsequently rang us, complaining "his internet" was so slow and he never got "the full 20 megabytes" he was promised...

they've been offering 100mbit for a few years now, so I wouldn't be suprised if it was the real deal.

I'm on 10mbit atm, and tbh its not all that

I haven't noticed an improvement over 3-4meg...
Although i do pull files of news servers in hardly no time at all. A certain RPG game for PC took about 30-40mins...

Out of curiosity, how much of a fluctuation in ping does it take until you notice a difference?

Am I missing something? Years ago I was told that the maximum speed limit for ADSL technology was 8mbit/1mbit. SDSL and such could do more. Have I been misinformed?
