how much is a wrecked car worth?

ok so i was at cottman transmission today doing some check-ups on my new clutch and while i was there the guys showed me another WRX that was in the shop with a blown transmission. now to replace it with a new, stock, transmission it would cost roughly $6000. however, this car has so many mods done to it theres no way a stock transmission would cut it, look at what happened to the first one. to get a 6 speed that could actually handle the power it would cost around $13,000.
well apparently the owner doesn't have the money to even go with the $6000 stock transmission and is pretty much fuct at the moment. so here's what im wondering. i wan't to make them an offer for their WRX, sell mine, and put the 6 speed in. The only problem though is that I have no idea how much the WRX with a blown transmission is worth and therefore don't know how much to offer. i'm also not to sure if anything else went fubar when the transmission decided to crap out.

buying a riced up WRX is always a bad idea.

And the reasoning behind that is that whoever owned it that couldn't afford a new clutch for all the crap they put in it probably drove the shit out of it.

i sure am still driving it. i've got a short ram intake, boost controller, and BOV since you've riddin in it last. it goes vrrrroooom *PSSHOOSH* now hehe.
and kracus i might heed your advice if it was indeed riced out, but it's not. in fact i never said anything about it being riced up or even needing a clutch replacement. reading comprehension: use it.

Stu, are you sure you should have a BOV on that? rather then a Loop back?

Also, on topic..
i would stay away persioanlly, Tuned cars are never worth anything to much, you can never tell how they where tuned, how much they where beaten on, and if that one has a blown tranny, he dosent know what he is doing ( dosent matter if it was a miss shift, blown due to power, etc )
so i would stay away from it in general.

yar i made certain it wasn't gonna fuck anything up and this is the one i'm using...
AVO Blow Off Valves feature the latest technology in lightweight internal valving to ensure optimum blow-off response at all times. AVO blow-off valves are a 50% recirculate, 50% vent system that retains the return tube, keeping the stock computer system happy, while an additional vent with removeable plate sends excess air to atmosphere. I don't understand, it costs $13,000 to get a transmission? For fucks sakes, my friend's brother's whole STI into GC8 swap didn't cost as much! And thats including the brakes.

Well when you add more horsepower to the engine, you need the parts to handle that power and a stock tranny won't do.
I know a guy who built up his engine and tranny. He didn't do the rearend yet and one day he went to take off real quick and ripped out his rear end.

i was reading up on a dude that was doing a Miata with a Nissan Sr20DET.. and his second time out he blew the stock diff.
the best part was that he actually managed to crack the housing

ima just hold off for now i spose. i'm in a position now that if i save my money right, then by the time i graduate from college i could have enough to flat out buy a new STi or EVO which was my original plan to start out with.

Of course you don't understand. Using a couple acronyms isn't going to change the fact that you're a fucking idiot.
