question. do i set it to 720 or 1080?
Posted: Tue Mar 21, 2006 4:31 pm

depends on the size of the screen. 720p is more condensed (read: higher vertical line concentration) than 1080i, so 1080i is 'worse' on a bigger screen and might even produce some ghosting & tearing.
on a smaller screen 1080i is 'better' because you wont see the interlacing anyway

play a few rounds of graw or kameo (or something else that turns a lot) on both and see what works for you. theres no 'better' or 'worse' per se.
if my beamer would accept the fucking hd signal i'd personally go for 720 because the screen is so effin huge

Like mine, it only does 768 vertical lines. So 1080 is probably being scaled down. Not really a big deal on a 32".

720 it is then.

aye, if your tv only supports up to a 720 res, its no use setting it to 1080 because itll downscale anyways. and since pretty much all 360 games are optimized for 720 atm now too itll upscale to 1080 after which your tv will downscale to 720 again

Actually, it's someone I know (whos 20) and he was putting a CD in

. The screen is 50" or something, so it makes most people look small.

Almost every LCD out only does the 720p. They may say 1080i ready on them, but they downscale to 720p. There are a few out now that are 1080i but they are so new and so expencive it's still better to go with a LCD at 720p or a CRT rear projection at 1080i. I have a 53" panasonic rear projection at 1080i and only spent $1,500 on it a year ago. Now it's even cheaper.

I was looking to get a HDMI converter to hook an x360 up to my Cinema Display, but the company who makes them's web page seems to have disappeared off the internet.
