So I know there is quite a suite of tools for unix machines to crack WEP keys, are there any good tools for windows machines?

I remember, when wifi was new, and some one wrote an app to sniff images out of unincripted wi-fi traffic.

you can get a copy of "the auditor" online and it's a linux boot CD which can be used on any windows laptop. But keep in mind WEP cracking is not the 10 minute feat that's laid out in that video you prolly watched.

I took a wireless security course and our instructor gave us all the tools to do it and set us loose in the university dorm area. Even with the high traffic APs it took some time to get the wep cracked. It's much easier to move on to an unprotected AP.

I'm just too cheap to pay for cable when there are like 3 perfect wifi signals floating around my complex, and all I do is browse the internet briefly when at home.

So if you got time download the iso of auditor, boot it up, get the wep keys and use them. It will prolly take you a few hours to get yourself free internet. Be warned it's illegal to knowingly hijack your neighbors wifi.

Just use social engineering.. it's a lot more challenging and a lot more rewarding
