The Kororaa team just released a Live CD loaded with XGL, from which I am posting from. It's kinda fun to mess around with, and check out all the stuff it can do.
To everyone else that doesn't know what any of this means, XGL is a new OpenGL driven desktop developed for the linux community. It supports transparent windows, traversing mulitple desktops in a 3D space, and some awesome looking window animations.
All you have to do to get this running is download the iso, burn it, boot to the CD, and type kororaa at the command prompt. Then just let it boot and you're in.
Now for the linkage...

Nice, does it come with useful network tools like knoppix? Or is it a boot CD to introduce Linux to new comers?
What's the main purpose for the distro?

It's not really any competition with Knoppix, it's basically a demo of what they can do with XGL and Gentoo. Did I mention this was a Gentoo project?
EDIT: Oh yea, and use the torrent to download it the fastest. :P

Thanks.
I maintain that it's one terrible piece of web design.

Keep in mind that XGL in its various incarnations is still pretty much beta (if not alpha). That live CD is not much more but a tech demo.

Exactly. I had it running fine, but it has issues with ATI cards and such.

Jiggly windows are cute. The animation as I switch desktops are cute.
The ability to run a video half across 2 desktops has no practical use to me.
Visually, it's nice. Since it's X, I assume it works exactly as slick across rdt sessions, too.
So... it's OK. if there were a linux distro running this that was as straightforwards to install and run programs as windows *double click package, answer questions, click shortcut, use program* I'm all over it.

I almost agree with you. I don't mind the extra work so much, I just wish Linux supported as much software and games as windows, thats the only thing thats holding me back.
