2xHDMI, 2xComponent. I have my pc hooked up through component right now...but I'd like to free it up for other things.

hey another question. if you connect a pc to a tv that has vga in, does that automatically make it HD?
as in, if it shows your desktop (on whatever res you like), does that qualify as HD ?

if so i can test my projector for it since the bitch refuses to accept HD through component even though it should

Hmm..I dunno this is all new to me. This tv only accepts certain computer resolutions from 640 x 480, 60Hz to 1366 x 768, 60Hz. So I guess it depends on the res...it will accept through the vga.

Me either.. I have media center connect..and I stream mp3's. I tried sharing a folder with a couple tv episodes in xvid format and the 360 didnt recognize them.

Still...I have some components laying around..I think building a media center pc would give me alot more flexability.

Aparently you can't stream any video to the xbox unless you have media center installed on your pc.

HDTV is officially 720p, which is officially 1280x720. EDTV is officially 480p, 720x480. Therefore, the normal desktop resolution is not officially HDTV.

These resolutions aren't set in stone though, I have a 32" 4:3 Sony HDTV connected to a media pc via DVI and I used to run it at 1152x648 because I didn't get any overscan that way.

I didn't need it though, and the TV didn't like it that much, so I disabled the 16:9 pulldown and started running it at 800x600 (the TV didn't like 1024x768), I don't need any more resolution. The TV likes it and I like it since I don't have to resize videos too much and the sattelite I watch is also at a slightly lower resolution.

If you're connecting a computer to the TV or whatever, you don't need to run it at an HDTV resolution. Personally I don't see the point, unless the TV was made for that resolution like a plasma or an LCD, or if you are watching HDTV-resolution material, but otherwise just run it at whatever makes the TV comfortable and a resolution that you like.

yea i kinda figured as much. i dont want to run my pc through my beamer or anything, i just thought it might be a quick vga test before my xbox360 vga cable arrives.
i later decided it was too much of a hassle to do it anyways so i guess i just have to wait a few days before i can see if i wasted money or not ;)
