Looking for something that would be a good balance between cost and quality (i.e. decent but relatively cheap). Prefferably under $200. Was thinking about this:

Suggestions?

That'll do fine for its price. Has the basics on it.

Here's a more feature-packed one for $129:

The same as the above with 61 keys for $149:

You can also sacrifice the number of keys for more features, so instead of having 5-6 octaves you can have 2-3 and get more controls and whatnot.

Midi and velocity sensitive keys (and maybe full size keys if you're a piano player - weighted are $$$) are the only requirement. Everything else boils down to cash.
The CompUSA near me recently had a sale on a decent looking/playing M-audio controller. $99. Take a look in the store and see what they've got. Walmart also sells cheapo Yamahas and Casios that'll do the part (maybe not look it).

You arent going to get weighted keys for these prices.

That reminds me, I still need some propper midi cables. USB preferably so I can plug into my laptop, but their damn expensive.
Could you not pick up a second hand 'propper' keyboard, with display etc too? I have a faily old yamaha which should do the job fine:
It has a built in 16 track editor which makes it easier to mess around with things too.

Good input, thanks fellers. :icon14:
Took a look around Guitar Center today, but all their shit was overpriced. Did some more researching online and I think I'll end up getting one of these 61-keyers:

I really want to get the Axiom due to all its features and semi-weighted keys (and even though it's technically $50 above my expenditure limit), but the Evolution is tempting, as it's on sale on musiciansfriend.com for $150 (usually goes for $250, the same price as the Axiom). Crapshit. :icon20:
