So I've started playing FEAR again

Well I've never really played it much since the demo days. Safe to say this game freaks me out...

But.... a few of my friends have been telling me how wank worthy the graphics are and so on. I'm not narrow-minded and will only judge a game by its graphics but they're good. But nothing worthy to write home about.

The model graphics and some of the effects are excellent, but stuff like chairs, bottles, computers, monitors etc, they just seem really bland a blocky. Is it just me?

Its not like ive got the settings on low, nor do I have a underpowered PC (3700+, 7800GT etc).

Either way, playing it in the dark with some good speakers and loud bass can get quite scary :paranoid:

Should I bother with this game on my P4_2.8 1GB 9700PRO setup?

I cast it aside as a game that I wouldn't enjoy with this setup but all these rave reviews I keep reading make me curious.

The physics and world item detail was yes, very poor. But the fire fights were very satisfying. It was nice to see enemies actually react to getting shot.

Ah good, so its not me then.

Yeah the enemy animations and AI are superb. I shot one of the soldiers in the gut and he was just standing there with his arms around his stomache stumbling around for a bit.

After watching this chap in agony for a bit I decided to shoot him in the head >:E

Yup, one of the best games i've played in a long time. So what if a bottle that you cant even see because you shot it already isn't high poly? You gorget that there are shit loads of said bottle on that desk with computer screens, keyboards, mice, files, papers, cans, all sorts of shit, all blowing up in different ways, all at the same time, while fighting a load of people with great effects :p

The only thing i didn't like was one random wall that used paralax mapping. It looked great! so why not give the high end users an option to use it on everything :(
