that look alittle like serious sam http://www.cubeengine.com/
Cube is an open source multiplayer and singleplayer first person shooter game built on an entirely new and very unconventional engine. Cube is a landscape-style engine that pretends to be an indoor FPS engine, which combines very high precision dynamic occlusion culling with a form of geometric mipmapping on the whole world for dynamic LOD for configurable fps & graphic detail on most machines. Uses OpenGL & SDL.

Cube has been around since before I started playing around with graphics code (3 years).

Yeah, most project engines piggy-back on the Quake map format.

Cube's pretty ancient now :p

And yes, those egyptian textures are used in many egyptian themed Q3 maps as well, but they're not commercial textures, so anyone can use them in any engine.

anyone know if sauerbraten's still being worked on? haven't looked at it in a while. sauerbraten's the nifty child of cube. nothing in cube was included without the original author's permission afaik.

trivia: (creator of cube,) aardappel's also behind one of the folks behind far cry.

These guys need to start forming much larger teams if they're going to be noticed.

They all and always lack sufficient content to hold attention, UI design, and sufficient testing.

Mostly it's some geek capable of coding an engine. Which does not a good game make.

Yeah. Nexuiz is definitely a bit more impressive.

yes... but they have a faggy star wars wigger fan song in their ad-video. reason enough, not to play it.

btw: it looks like q3 because these are custom textures made for q3 :)
