Heart and Stroke Foundation Ride for Heart

Post by obsidian »

I am taking part in this year's Heart and Stroke Foundation's Ride for Heart fundraiser which takes place on Sunday, June 4th, 2006. I will be cycling 50km through the heart of Toronto.

There's a lot riding on this event. The Heart and Stroke Foundation is a leading funder of heart and stroke research in Canada with hundreds of hospital and university-based research teams depending on them (and us) year after year. The majority of these funds come from people like you who understand the critical role research plays in finding the root causes of heart disease and stroke.

Almost 40% of people will develop some form of heart disease or stroke over their lifetime so it's critical to understand the underlying causes of these diseases.

For me, this event is personal. Our family has a history of high blood pressure and stroke. My father suffered from a heart attack and has since recovered thanks to the help and devotion of many medical and research professionals whose work is funded by the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

For that reason, I am doubling the recommended individual target and setting a personal goal of raising at least $600 for heart and stroke research.

You can help me raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation by sponsoring me. To make your pledge online, click the link below to access my secure pledge page.
