Strange Flying in the Skies

I live by a major international airport, so constant air traffic is nothing unusual for me. And I love seing planes as they fly final approach, parralel to my balcony. Eye Level.

So what I want to talk about is the helicopter that came in today. And as you imagine by now, it was nothing ordinary. All day long, since i woke up the planes have been flying by my building. Due to the northerly winds today. Next, I hear a helicopter sound. I could make out that it was low and coming in from the west. I looked for it to pass by my window POV. But it did not, so I thought it would just pass my place by the time I went to the balcony, so I did not bother looking for it. But after 40 seconds the sound was still there and was not getting fainter.

So I took my camera and ran out to the balcony, the helicopter was hovering, pointed perpendicular in the direction the planes where doing final landing aproaches. I guessed he was ordered by the ATC to hold, until a plane passes by. I took a picture, and as a plane flew by the helicopter rotated to keep the plane in view, I guess he was rotating just because he could, playing fighter pilot? The plane passed and he was still hovering, shortly in came the next plane. He was still hovering, and now started backing up and drifting towards me, passing right above me and my building, during this I took a fiew nice close up pics. He desepeared from view above me, but the sound was still there. A minute latter he flys right across the line where planes are coming in, does a huge circle, and another, meanwhile I am thinking WTF? Cops? no, and it can not be news stations, they are flying like drunk.

After the second circle there is again another plane coming in on aproach, the helicopter fly towards it, full speed. The plane makes no moves, and the helicopter files right by the faking plane. I was so suprised by this, that I managed to take only one pic of this, right after the helicopter passed the nose of the plane.

After this the helicopter picks up some serious speed, and disappears on to a dot, above the city. And I take one more picture.

What was the helicopter doing? It was not cops, as the copter was black, and the police chopter here is white. From the pictures the helicopter looks to bee either the Bell 407 or Bell 412EP or the Griffin. Wierdness.

Pics comming in latter, when I get home and upload them.

Nice pictures, yeah it sounds really messed up. Maybe the guy was some dumbass with a helicopter licence and he was messing around? But I would imagine that would be a huge security threat and we would of heard it all over the news.

Also maybe the chopper was filming the planes? They had permission and all and maybe it was a promotional film or for a movie? That would explain a lot about the hovering and moving toward. I would imagine that’s how they get good shots for movies?

A year of flames in threads in which you will be flamed for being your retarded self.
It's a cycle, see how that works?

The AS350 in the pics he posted isn't carrying any camera equipment.
Definitely odd behavior. It can't be a student pilot on a training flight, they're not allowed to do maneuvers like that in the airport's controlled airspace, IIRC. I can't remember whether or not there are minumum separation distances inside the airport's airspace, but the chopper is definitely closer than 1000' vertical, 1/4 mile horizontal in one of those pictures.

Perhaps it was James Bond.
