Hey, they can spend money on their frivolous little "inventions" if they want to. I prefer spending our country's money on much more practical and productive things. Like dumping it by the truckload into resources that are going to be completely gone in 10 years.

Haven't they been testing Tokamaks for years?
How is that new? Or a 'first' even?

Awesome shot of an already existing Tokamak:

They haven't done it yet.. more Power to them if they can, but that story does not imply they have an actual, working fusion generator plan... It's all still theory until it produces more power than it consumes and can run non-stop

Thanks for cutting through the bullshit.

and not to mention this little fact
"If a device is developed that can withstand temperatures as high as 100 million Celsius degrees and control a deuterium-tritium reaction..."
seems like they have a long way to go, but IMO the progress has come much faster than I expected.

That's where the magnetic fields come into play... if i'm not mistaken, if a strong enough magnetic field can be created to contain the plasma, the walls of the reactor won't melt. But then I think the trick is creating a strong enough field that doesn't use more power than the reactor produces in any given instant

More importantly, what happens if there's a leak? Sounds like there's an awful lot of energy invested in those things.
If there's one of those in Japan and it asplodes, will Japan disappear?

Alright, infinite energy in March 2006 w00t! I'll cancel my hydro-quebec plan by then \o/

Henceforth you will not be buying batteries at this time?

I just invented a working perpetual motion machine. That reactor is so out of date.

Who needs stupid batteries when a source of infinite energy is just around the corner

Yes, because we will ALL have fusion reactors on our houses and cars and storing energy in a battery is a really stupid idea.
