I've been using XP Codec Pack 1.3.0, it runs just about everything.

http://www.xpcodecpack.com

Before that I had http://www.3ivx.com but doesn't run everything.

Try VirtualDub and save your movie as mpeg, which should play in a pc equiped with windows media player (xp comes with version 9 out of the box, I think).
