I'm looking to upgrade

I would like to keep with the PC 3200 memory scheme since I have 1.5 gig
I'm looking for an Athlon based system with a good mobo (SATA) required, I guess I could suck it up and go PCI Express...

any suggestions?

i know i'd put a ton of faith in a $120 motherboard being given away by every retailer with an off-brand videocard.
i'm sure its super reliable and has plenty of overclocking potential.

if your into the whole media experience i would go for ati's 1800xl. awesome overclocking potential and plenty of media features.

ati was a little slow out of the gate with enabling all the features on their new line up but things are really taking off.

http://firingsquad.com/hardware/ati_cat ... o_quality/
Ten days ago, ATI had the worst video quality on the PC. With this new driver, ATI has jumped to the top of the class and then built a nice lead. For Hollywood films, ATI edges out NVIDIA's PureVideo. Although the cadence detection is faster with NVIDIA, ATI has noise reduction will improve the quality of films once the cadence is locked on. In other words, for most Hollywood films, ATI will look better for the 2 hours whereas NVIDIA might look better for the few seconds after a bad-edit, if such a bad edit exists. When it comes to processing interlaced video, ATI now surpasses anything that we've seen on the PC with the best implementation of diagonal filtering we’ve seen yet. When it comes to unusual cadence detection, ATI AVIVO has no peer in its price range.

if you are looking at reviews, take note of the driver versions. if they are not using cat 5.12's or up discard them.

I thought eVGA was a decent brand...

they're pretty middle-of-the-road video card company that just lumps out reference design cards... kinda like PNY et'al.
motherboard wise, they're totally unproven. i don't think i've ever seen a stress test, or a serious review of any mb they've made.

I'm not looking for an amazing system, just an upgrade to what I currently have.

My Geforce Ti 4200 is a "little" outdated ;)

I've ordered parts from these guys for my last 3 systems, and had great service. Prices have always been good too.

I order all my shit from Newegg. Don't know if they have the best prices every time (they are usually pretty good) but I've built 6 computers with parts ordered only from them and never had one hint of a problem.

I like Newegg too, but they have a warehouse in TN so I have to pay sales tax through them. Which usually bumps them up to being more expensive than the other shops I'm looking at.

You should be aware that the ULi chipset is a budget chipset, read up on reviews before you get one instead of a nForce4.

I ordered a X2 3800+ and an Asus A8N-E two days ago. Quality products with great overclocking potential.

Oh, and a XFX 7800GT OC, lifetime warranty.
