Anyone else get their marks back?

Got a 4.0 (out of 4.0...none of this 4.2, A+ bollocks). Obviously I'm quite happy, that moves me up to 66th (out of 1373 in my year in my college, out of 5 colleges in the university as a whole), which is the top 4.8%. Quite happy indeed :)

How'd everyone else do?

I graduated. Beyond that, nobody cares.

My degree is a total joke. You use the 3 years to put together a decent portfolio, and thats about it. Noone cares about the actual degree itself.

Have to say your probably wrong, you have two applicants, one with a 4.0, the other with whatever is just passing, 2.3, whatever. All things being equal otherwise who are you going to hire? Should be obvious the 4.0 is going to have a better base to work with...

the uni outsources its software suite, so the package they've adopted for grade/course history details keeps track of and lists that data :shrug:

i'm an International Studies major (concentrating in economics), with a minor in Health Sciences (mostly thanks to the interest tnf, sys0p etc have sparked in nutrition etc on the boards here, oddly enough). My thesis is on the connection between the profile of foreign direct investment (geographic, industry-specific, source country, etc) and the level of democracy associated with the area in Russia. I'm explaining why, in essence, Russia's development cycle has stalled due to its weak profile of FDI which is concentrated in only 5 regions (80% of which is in Moscow, so really only 1 region) and only in 2 big sectors- energy (oil) and the service industries, both of which lead to a degeneration of infrastructure (when looking at the economy in general) because they are export oriented industry and thus don't have externalities which improve Russia's business environment.

Sounds fun, doesn't it? Mostly boring to non-poli sci/economics people, but I enjoy it :)

i pulled a solid 3.0 this term. average gpa is like 2.8 or some shit like that. i dont really care about the grade as long as i graduate. and like brisk, all i'm really there for is to put together a decent portfolio so that i can get a decent job when i do graduate.

Nice work man.

I think I have a low 3. I started off strong but got lazy this year. I'll be graduating in June so I'm excited about that.

Good job rep. Can't say that your field interests me much, but, meh.
I had a shit semester. Got a 3.25, sank my GPA to a 3.67, which pisses me right off.

yeah.. working M-F 1-5 PM while taking classes is a load of horse shit.. never do it. It nearly drove me insane.... I bet I actually read one of the 12 or so books assigned this past year because I didn't feel like doing anything when I got home at 5. Of course I ended up with a 3.5, so you're mileage may vary.

unfortunately i don't have a choice.
i either work ~25-30hrs a week, or i don't have enough money to keep my lights on or, physically transport myself to classes.
its pretty hellish though.
most days i leave for work @ 8am, and don't get home until around 9.30pm
almost impossible to get anything done during the week, and i'm so spent by the weekend i end up sleeping away saturday, then trying to do a weeks worth of work on sunday.
makes me kind of bitter toward the plethora of rich kids at my school who sail through on the S.S. Mommy&Daddy

How is the GPA calculated?

Posted: Sat Dec 24, 2005 12:23 am
by Dr_Watson
A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1
F = 0

GPA=sum/n

i graduated with a 3.8 loaded with biochem classes, switched to double CS/CE major and had to do an even heavier load to catch up with time wasted in Bio, was doing like 20units a quarter with labs and most upper division all while putting in below the minimum effort needed
